October was National Disability Employment Awareness Month. Held annually, the purpose of National Disability Employment Awareness Month is to educate about disability employment issues and celebrate the many and varied contributions of America’s workers with disabilities. This year’s theme was “America’s Recover: Powered by Inclusion” to reflect on the importance of ensuring those with disabilities have full access to employment and community involvement while the nation recovers from the COVID-19 pandemic. Throughout the month, Placement Partners engaged in a variety of activities to draw attention to disability employment and to recognize the opportunities the people we serve have gained through employment. Our staff distributed posters to community businesses and shared quotes and stories from the people we serve about how their employment was impacted by the pandemic. We hope that our participation in these activities will reinforce the value and talent people with disabilities add to our workplaces and communities.
